ACORAB is dedicated to strengthening the institutional capacity of community radios, recognizing it as a crucial element for bolstering social accountability. Programs aimed at enhancing capacity will concentrate on expanding the breadth and scope of community participation, improving technical and advocacy skills, boosting the capacity to mobilize resources, and effectively utilizing media. These initiatives aim to reinforce the legitimacy and quality of conduct and actions of community radios, including internal accountability practices, all of which are integral to the success of social accountability initiatives.

  • The 2016 Institutional Development of ACORAB aimed at enhancing the capacity of community radio journalists, organizing a province-level community radio conference, and conducting research, studies, and documentation in collaboration with the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Communication, and Information Technology.
  • In 2018, through the support from ABT Associates, we community radio capacity building, including the production and broadcasting of 12 programs on family and reproductive health, as well as the creation and broadcast of a radio drama series, alongside capacity development initiatives for community radio in radio program production.
  • In 2018, UNDP-supported initiatives aimed at accelerating Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) implementation through the Community Radio Network included the capacity building of radio journalists on SDGs, the production and broadcast of radio reports and PSAs, and the collection and broadcast of SDG-based commitments from local representatives, government bodies, stakeholders, and experts via local radios and the CIN network.
