Sixth Annual General Meeting of ACORAB concluded after electing new Executive Board at the leadership of Min Bahadur Shahi of Radio Karnali- Jumla on 6th of October in Butwal. The newly elected executive board members have committed to work strategically on advocacy and lobbying for consolidating community radio movement and institutionalize ACORAB and its member community radios.

Vice Chairperson of Constitution Assembly Purna Kumari Subedi inaugurated the AGM. The AGM discussed on policies and programmes of ACORAB and revised its statute with the consent of representatives of 124 community radios. According to the revised statute, provision of vice-president at each five development region has been made. Similarly, reserved quota for women, indigenous nationality, dalit and madhesi has been allocated, constituting 21 member Executive board.  

Mr Shahi got 84 votes out of 124 and secured his second term as President in ACORAB. Lok Prasad Banjara of Radio Gandaki has been elected as Vice President (Central), while regular Columnist in Nepal fortnightly magazine and President of Radio Mahakali- Khem Bhandari has been elected as General Secretary.  Ngima Tamang Pakhrin of Radio Solu, Phulman Bal of Radio Namobuddha- Kavre, Mohan Chapagain of Radio Lumbini, Harihar Singh Rathaur of Radio Panchakoshi- Dailekh and Dhruba Bahadur Shah of Ghodaghodi FM- Kailali have been elected as Eastern, Central, Western, Mid- Western and Far Western Region Vice President respectively.

Similarly, Subash Khatiwada of Radio Dhading and Govinda Acharya of Radio Narayani have been elected as Treasurer and Secretary respectively. Other elected Executive board members are Jibach Chaudhary of Radio Samad, Tula Adhikari of Radio Krishnasar, Ramji Bhattarai of Narayani FM Chitwan, Pitambar Sigdel of Radio Tamor and Dwarika Kaphle of Radio Radio Sindhuligadhi.

Under the reserved quota, Nimesh Karna of Radio Madhesh, Shivaji Gayak of Radio Jagaran- Rupandehi and Shashikala Dahal of Radio Sunghabha elected representing the Madheshi, Dalit and Women communities respectively. Similarly Ganesh Choudhary and Rajendra Kirati elected under reserved quota of indigenous nationality.

The outgoing Executive Board will hand over responsibility to the newly elected Executive Board on 1st of November 2009 in Kathmandu.
